Emily Ratajkowski is a lot of things: a model, an author, a podcast host. After carefully observing her street style over the past month, I'm starting to suspect that she is also a sneakerhead.

Ratajkowski's casual outfits have occasionally incorporated a buzzy sneaker (like the Adidas Samba), or been some of the first to revive a pair that had previously been stuck in the archives (the New Balance 550). Walking around New York City this summer, she's done both to a slightly more frequent degree. Most of the pairs she's worn have shown an affinity for vintage styles, like the Reebok Club C 85 Vintage or the Puma Palermo. She's also dipped into styles that rose to unexpected popularity among fashion insiders, like Salomon's outdoorsy pairs. Along the way, Ratajkowski has also provided some inspiration for summer outfits that can even make errands or walking the dog feel like a moment—even when, and especially because, they revolve around sneakers.

The pair Emily Ratajkowski has worn more than any other this summer by my tally are the most fundamental: the white sneaker. Specifically, she laces up in Reebok's Club C 85 Vintage model.

Reebok recently brought this style inspired by '80s tennis shoes back from the archives. Ratajkowski treats it more like a minimalist, goes-with-everything walking shoe than a workout-only pair. She's worn it this summer with everything from denim cutoff shorts and a black tank top to baggy cargo pants and an oversized T-shirt.

Emily Rajakowski isn't exempt from celebrities' recent obsession with New Balance sneakers. Instead of the absolutely-everywhere 550s, she's instead spent the summer in the low-top 574. (Hailey Bieber is another notable fan of the same style.) New Balance first introduced this model in 1988; the sneaker's design hasn't changed much since then, but its styling with a side-cutout asymmetric sundress for a casual walk is completely new.

More than one '80s sneaker has made it out of the archives and into rotation with Emily Ratajkowski's casual day dresses. She opted for this pair of mint and orchid Puma low-tops twice in the past month: first with a Danielle Guizio mesh mini dress and Loewe leather tote, then with a Wolford tube dress and Telfar jelly tote bag.

Salomon's XT-6 Advanced sneakers were designed for ultramarathoners competing in "harsh conditions." They've since been remixed through sold-out collaborations with Sandy Liang and MM6 Maison Margiela—the latter making it all the way to the 2023 Super Bowl and onto Rihanna's feet—and worn by Emily Ratajkowski as yet another everyday dog-walking sneaker. The three times Ratajkowski wore her Salomons in the past month (that I've seen, at least), she used them to complete one of 2023's most prevalent Y2k outfit formulas: a tight-fitting ribbed tank top or baby T-shirt and a low-rise baggy jean.
